Like its Jiangsu neighbors, Zhenjiang is influenced by the Asian monsoon and the Yangtze River, the region enjoys subtropical climate and distinct seasons. Sunshine time is up to 2,057.2 hrs and non-frost period is 238 days. It has distinctive seasons, warm and moist with adequate precipitation.

  • Average temperature in winter: 3.8 ℃.
  • Average temperature in summer: 26.5 ℃.

  • Average relative humidity: 76%.
  • Minimum relative humidity: 0% (recorded on January 15, 1968).

Precipitation:

  • Average annual precipitation: 1070.0 mm.
  • Maximum amount of precipitation ever recorded in 24 hrs: 262.5 mm. (Recorded on July 3, 1972).
  • Days on which daily precipitation is over 10 mm: 32.4 days.
  • Rainy season: no typical rainy season.

Earthquake:

  • Earthquake intensity and frequency: All the buildings are strong enough to resist earthquakes of magnitude 6 (on the Richter scale). So far, no earthquakes over magnitude 5.5 (on the Richter scale) have occurred in Zhenjiang.
